Tricks are a new mechanic introduced in Trouble in Paradise.
Overview
Tricks are bespoke animations that piñatas can perform, which are unique to each species. Like variants, a piñata must eat something to perform its trick. While a piñata is performing a trick, it can be tapped with the trick stick to learn that trick permanently. Once a piñata has learned a trick, the trick stick can be used to activate that trick on command rather than fulfilling the requirement again.
In-game testing needed. This information has not been fully verified in-game. You can help improve Piñata Journal by testing it.
Every piñata species has two tricks, referred to in-game as Trick 1 and Trick 2, each with its own unique requirements. Trick 2 always uses the piñata's attack object as part of the trick. If a piñata knows its tricks, the Trick Stick can be used with Template:Controls to perform Trick 1 or Template:Controls to perform Trick 2.

- Curiously, there are no awards associated with tricks, making them optional for 100% completion.
