- Real cheese is made from milk that has been curdled, usually by fermentation or acidification.
- The in-game cheese is based on the stereotypical cartoon depiction of cheese, loosely based on the holey appearance of swiss cheese with the yellow color of cheddar. This depiction is so culturally ubiquitous that it is depicted in the cheese emoji (🧀).
- Cheddar, like many other cheeses, is named for its place of origin. The journal's dubbing of the in-game cheese as "Piñata Island cheese" references this trend.
