Ivor is a good person, but he isn't always blessed with good luck. He never forgets a friendly gesture, and likes to pay his debts.
RoleShopkeeper Beggar (Temporarily)
Voiced ByUnknown

Ivor Bargain is a trader who often visits the Village. He sells rare items not found elsewhere.

Ivor first appears under the name Ivor Beggar. He will visit the garden in the hopes that the player will help him get back on his feet. Doing so turns him into Ivor Bargain, making his shop available to visit.

In Trouble in Paradise, Ivor can no longer be found anywhere in town or in the garden. His stock is now sold at Costolot's Store. Ivor's location is revealed after unlocking the wishing well-- someone has pushed Ivor down it, and he will now throw items he has found at the bottom up in exchange for chocolate coins.

Gameplay

Starting from level 9, the garden may be visited by a beggar named Ivor. He wanders around and can be spoken with or given chocolate coins. The player can also water him and hit him with the shovel like other NPCs, though it is not recommended to hit him, as he will leave for a while. Instead, it is recommended to help him out by giving him the chocolate coins he asks for.

After receiving 1,000 chocolate coins, Ivor will leave the garden permanently. He will flip his mask around, and open Ivor Bargain, a brand new shop with exclusive items. Most of these items have special effects to help out in the garden beyond simply looking nice.

Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise

In Trouble in Paradise, Ivor will no longer appear as a beggar, nor will he ever open his shop. All of the items previously carried by Ivor are now carried in Costolot's Store.

Ivor has not been entirely removed from the game, however. After viewing the credits (unlocked by unblocking all blocked piñata), the Wishing Well is unlocked. Place it in the garden and discover that Ivor is trapped at the bottom. Toss down some coins for him, and he will throw back up various items and coins. Tossing down at least 1,000 chocolate coins will make it more likely that he will throw back up even more money than sent down. Placing a Lantern 'o' Loot next to the well also increases the amount of coins given in return.

If 9,999 chocolate coins are tossed in at once, Ivor will toss up the amber gem. This is a vital item needed to revive the Choclodocus. Only one piece of amber exists per save file. Even if given another 9,999 chocolate coins in a new garden, Ivor will not grant any more amber.

Ivor cannot be freed from the well, and is never seen in person.

Mini-Games

Ivor in The P Factor

Despite being stuck down the well, Ivor can still participate in the mini-games added in Trouble in Paradise, though he will only appear once the well is unlocked. As an opponent, Ivor will choose a piñata at random.

As a judge in The P Factor, Ivor prefers piñatas obtained through the Xbox LIVE Vision camera.

Leafos Gossip

  • "Ivor had a run of bad luck at the Piñata races. But I'd trust him with my money, if I had any." (Classic only)
  • "I haven't seen Ivor the trader for ages. What could have happened to him?" (TIP only)

Quotes

  • "Got some rare things on sale! I have a friend who keeps saying that."

Trivia

  • Ivor lost all his money and became a beggar due to poor luck gambling at piñata races. It is likely these races are similar to the mini-game added in Trouble in Paradise, The Great Piñata Paperchase.
  • Due to his stock being found at Costolot's Store in Trouble in Paradise, it is speculated by some fans that Lottie may have been the person to push Ivor down the Wishing Well. This is not confirmed.
  • Ivor’s line “Got some rare things on sale!” is a reference to the recurring catchphrase of the Merchant in Resident Evil 4.
