Prickly Pear is a weed introduced in Trouble in Paradise. It’s a large spiny cactus, with a large strange fruit growing on top. Eating the fruit will make piñatas confused, causing them to become non-residents. It is grown from the prickly pear seed.

The prickly pear is very attractive to piñatas, and they will do anything to try and get a taste. They will attack the plant, knowing down the flowerhead and the seeds. Eating the flower will cause piñatas to become confused, and they will leave the garden, turning back to their black and white wild colors.
Piñatas affected by the prickly pear will need to satisfy their resident requirements again before they will return to the garden. The prickly pear is an extremely dangerous plant because of this, and should be planted securely behind fencing. Birdproof fencing is highly recommended to keep even flying piñatas safe.
